Coyotes Tracks - October 9, 2010 - Breakfast with the Bruins: Part Jeden

Photo

"Serious stuff going on now," Phoenix goalie Ilya Bryzgalov told NHL.com after Friday's practice. "The joke is over. This is what it is all about. The race has begun."

This morning the Desert Dogs embark upon their 2010-11 regular season.  This year expectations are high after last year's 50 win performance.  To get ready for this morning's game we've got you covered with game previews, Coyotes related news, plus various general hockey stuff.  For the Bruins side of things you can head over to our SB Nation sister blog, Stanley Cup of Chowder.

As usual, we'll have a Game Day Thread (GDT) here at Five For Howling.  Grab a little breakfast grub, turn on the game, and join the conversation.

Good quotes from Coach Tippet in this one. I get the impression the team, like the fans, are eager to get the season underway.

The biggest story of last evening in the NHL. Thankfully it appears Pavelec is going to be alright. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Chris Vivlamore, doctors are still trying to determine what caused the goalie to collapse.

Using LTIR To Beat The Salary Cap - KuklasKorner : The Puck Stops Here :
This article does a good in depth job of explaining about how teams are using the cap rules regarding LITR to their benefit.  On the other hand, the author's complaints that this situation makes it hard for fans to understand what is going on with their team seem to underestimate hockey fan's intelligence. In addition, I don't get how LITR is different in complexity than other cap related rules, waiver rules, or pretty much anything governing player salaries. Would the author prefer the NHL have less rules governing player movement and salaries?

I was surprised about Bergeron, I was hoping he would get to free agency.

In an Ideal world, I would have all ten fingers on my left hand so my right hand could just be a fist for punching.
