The Phoenix Coyotes have assigned defenseman Maxim Goncharov to the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL. Goncharov played well in the preseason, but still needs to grow into the North American game. He's certainly got a lot of talent but wasn't quite ready for the big team at the moment. He'll certainly be among the first called up should there be injuries so long as he continues to progress in San Antonio. Goncharov was 0-1-1 with a minus 2 in 4 preseason appearances.
