And the trades pick up. Phaneuf to Toronto(?!), etc.

Brian Burke being Brian Burke, gets the ball rolling.

Phaneuf (with extras) to Toronto

Stajan and Hagman to Calgary  ( with D Ian White)

Possible Ducks/ Toronto goalie trade with Giguere for Toskala.

There should be more to come, but unitl there are some verified updates, it looks like the only solid players in the Trade are Stajan/Hagman for Phaneuf.  Check the comment for more, once things have been confirmed as cemented in stone.

Hey Dion, isn't Elisha Cuthbert from Toronto?  I hope the restaraunts out there don't serve leftovers.  ( Get it? Anyone? Anyone? ) Eheeehhhhhhhhh!

I'll recap the trades

Stajan, Mayers, Hagman and White for Phaneuf, Keith Aulie and Former Yote Freddy Sjostrom

The 2nd was Toskalol (aka the Human Sieve) and Jason Blake for J.S. Giguere.

And a note for all you guys: Winning against the Ducks will now be so much easier, as they added a human sieve as their backup AND a forward who can only hit the goalie square in the chest

Great.

Now that we’ve already played 5 of the 6 games we have against them.

Don’t worry Odin. I’ll be secretly hoping the Flames start sucking extra hard so that you get a sweet lottery pick while you guys play playoff hockey

I honestly think Toskala and Blake are fantastic pickups for the Ducks.

Toskala was a stud in San Jose, which is why Toronto chesed after him. Thing is, Toronto had no defensive system to protect their goalie, much like the difference betwwen Bryzgalov last year vs. Bryzgalov this year. Blake had the same problem. Surround him with scorers, instead of ( i hate to say this ) “energy guys”, his hands will suddenly turn into gold due to a lack of pressure on him. If anyone’s gonna have a gun to their head over this, it’s Phaneuf. I would feel bad for him, but…

.It’s Phaneuf. Rot in Hades, starf*cker.

I agree that Toskala isn’t a bad pick-up. He’s a backup and won’t see a ton of ice time and he’ll be serviceable. Put a good defense in front of him (not sure that is Anaheim, but…), and he won’t be a complete liability.

As for Blake, I think 2-3 years ago you could say he would turn to gold, but ass an under-sized forward that likes to play the pest, his best days are far behind him at this point.

I don’t know if these trades really do much to change much about any of the teams involved (other than Toronto and Calgary starting to completely turn their rosters around). As we’ve already played our only game against Toronto, 3 of 4 against Calgary and 5 of 6 against Anaheim, it shouldn’t affect us much at all, except for that 1st round pick…

NHL on the Fly last night was actually assessing the Coyotes' possibilities for trades

And pointed out that with Mueller scoring against Dallas, his price just went up again. Like it or not, it seems to me that there are a ton of potetntial ‘expendables’ on the ‘Yotes, Mueller being one of them. Tippett is smart enough not to shake things up too much, but he’d be a fool not to jump after a potential top 6 scoring forward, especially with Upshall out.
