Hey remember when I said that a Balsillie win would be bad for everyone? The other three leagues happen to agree. Suck it Balsillie!

Sorry Odin. That’s no surprise to anyone. Of course the Leagues support the NHL. They want control over where their franchises move. The NFL already lost a court battle when the Raiders moved back to Oakland and the NBA has probably seen more franchises move than any other league, most recently the Seattle Sonics to Oklahoma. MLB would want control as well in case the money losing teams decide they need a new home.

I know very little about the Raiders situation when they returned to Oakland, but would something like that play a role in Balsillie trying to relocate if he did receive ownership of the team? I doubt Jim is going to get the Coyotes, but if he did it will be interesting to see if the Raiders outcome could be used in his own proceedings.
Well if he wins the bankruptcy suit and the NHL still attempts to block the move he can file an anti-trust case and use the Raiders move as precedent.
