Phoenix Coyotes' Ilya Bryzgalov Named NHL's First Star of the Week

Great recognition for Ila Bryzgalov, who's been absolutely solid so far this year. Behind the revamped Defense he's faced a LOT less shots which has been part of the problem in previous years. His save percentage has always been fairly high, but when 40 shots are getting through, missing 2 or 3 is a game. Now only facing 20 a game, his skill is able to be measured in wins and shutouts now rather than only save percentage. This week he shutout the Sharks, let 2 in against the Blues in the overtime win, and let one squeaker in against the Bruins. All in all a 3-0-0 record with a 0.95 GAA and .959 save percentage. You can't ask for more from your goalie.

Great job Bryz!

Have to keep it up..

They need to keep up this kind of pace AFTER the all star break in order to have a chance for the post season. Come on Yotes!

Welcome!

THanks for joining.

I hope they can too. They’ve played so well so far. Let’s hope the season looks the same way. Also, no ASG this year, Olympics break which is even worse…

BRYZ showed

what he could do in the worlds this summer with the russian team if he has a reasonable defense in front of him…other than the major yandle mishandle, the d has given him a lot of help, with the forwards coming back to help and getting on loose pucks…as long as he’s not getting 35-40 shots a night on him, he’s good…bruins got 23…..

who will rid me of this damn priest?
